Help beginning marketers in need and contribute to The CodeTree’s FREE up and coming segment on Internet Marketing!

The last thing this world needs is another person to read a, ‘get rich with Google’ ad and then get the bright idea to setup a dead blog that just syndicates the blog of someone else and then spams the crap out of twitter. I mean really … we have enough of that already and it just makes it that much more difficult for real marketers to gain credibility.

How success works

I am a firm believer that a person’s own success is achieved through the success of others.  In other words, you have to give something to get something. If you enable someone else to have success or contribute to their success in some manner, personal success will fall upon you. Call it Karma or whatever you like but I have seen it work countless times including in my own personal businesses. You gain credibility and visibility the more you help others succeeds which directly feeds your success.

The Challenge

I want you to have a chance to help your fellow marketer by sharing some advice, tips, common mistakes, pitfalls … etc.  The CodeTree will be running a segment in November of 2009 that selected entries and submissions will be included in and will be displayed right here on The CodeTree blog for the entire Internet to read! I’m not suggesting that you give your best stuff away, just some good solid advice that could potentially help a beginning marketer.  All contributors will get links back and a short signature line. This is a great way to increase your personal brand exposure as a marketing authority!

The details

Send all correspondence and contributions to ryan@mycodetree.com. You can also follow @rthconsultants on Twitter or find me on Facebook. All entries may not be selected due to time or space constraints. Each contributor will be notified of their entry’s acceptance or denial.  Additionally, all contributors will be given the opportunity to approve their entry post edit and prior to going live on the Internet.

How to increase your twitter presence

September 23rd, 2009

Twitter has massive potential as a marketing tool, knowing how to use it and when to use it can deliver results to you like no other! Check out these tips below for some great advice on increasing your twitter exposure!

  1. Explain to your followers what retweeting is and encourage them to retweet your links. Retweeting pushes your @username into foreign social graphs, resulting in clicks back to your profile. Track your retweets using retweetist.
  2. Fill out your bio. Your latest tweets and @replies don’t mean much to someone that doesn’t know you. Your bio is the only place you have to tell people who you are. Also, your bio is displayed on Twitter’s Suggested Users page. Leaving it blank or non-descriptive doesn’t encourage people to add you.
  3. As @garyvee  says, “link it up.” Put links to your Twitter profile everywhere. Link it on your Digg, LinkedIn, Facebook, blog, email signature, and everywhere else you live online. Also, check out the great feedburner-like badges from TwitterCounter for your blog.
  4. Tweet about your passions in life and #hash tag them. Quality content coupled with an easy way to find it never fails. If others enjoy your content, they’ll add you. Learn more about #hash tagging here.
  5. Bring your twitter account into the physical world. Every time I give a talk, speak on a panel, shoot a podcast, present slides, or hand out business cards, I figure out a way to broadcast or display my twitter account.
