The CodeTree Backup plugin for WordPress is as revolutionary as it is simple and easy to use! Simply install the plugin using the automated WordPress plugin installer or unzip the plugin archive and FTP the contents to the plugins folder for your WordPress installation.
Once you have installed the plugin, activate the plugin using the plugin menu option in the WordPress administration area. After you have activated the plugin you can go to the ‘CodeTree Backup’ option under the settings menu and enter your CodeTree API key OR use the manual backup option if you do not have an active CodeTree subscription.
The plugin will allow you to make manual, ‘on-demand’ backups or (with a valid API key) will make daily backups that are stored off-site automatically! The off-site backups will rotated in a newest to oldest fashion and will store up to the amount alloted in your account (minimum of 5 days). The off-site backups will also generate a daily email sent to the user indicating the successfulness of the backup and provide a link to download the most recent (latest) backup for the user. Manual backups will make the exact same backup file as the off-site backups but will store the backup file on the user’s server and provide a download link for the backup once complete (a convenient ‘remove’ link is also provided for when your finished with your manual backup).
The plugin functions just fine without an API key. However, with an API key you’ll also have access to an additional setting that will allow you to specify additional folders to include in the backup archive (aside from the plugins, themes and media folders that are automatically backed up).
You can find your CodeTree API key in your profile after you login to your account at http://mycodetree.com.
